
Ronald Araujo of Barcelona scored a goal in stoppage time to steal a 1-0 victory at Real Sociedad on Saturday after being outplayed by the hosts, helping them to stay ahead of the leaders in La Liga.
In the first half, Real Sociedad had opportunities, but Marc-Andre ter Stegen made a number of saves to deny them.
Fermin Lopez had Barça’s best chance following a foul on Joao Felix just prior to halftime.
Subsequently, Sociedad’s goalkeeper Alex Remiro produced an incredible save to stop Gavi, and Araujo’s attempt was disallowed for offside before he scored the game’s winning goal in the 92nd minute.
With 27 points from 12 games, Barcelona is now in third place, four points behind leaders Girona, who defeated Osasuna 4-2 earlier on Saturday. With 19 points, Real Sociedad is ranked sixth.
In the Champions League, Barça takes on Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday in Hamburg, and Sociedad plays Benfica on Wednesday.
