Chargers’ Mike Williams To Miss Rest Of Season After MRI On Knee Confirms Torn ACL

Mike Williams helped the Los Angeles Chargers maintain a lead by six catches for 110 yards and a score during Sunday’s Week 3 game against the Vikings. However, a knee issue caused the wide receiver to leave early. Now, it appears that the team’s concerns have been verified.

Williams will miss the rest of the season due to an ACL tear, according to NFL Media’s report on the results of a Monday MRI.

Williams collapsed clutching his left knee with less than two minutes remaining in the third. He stayed on the U.S. Bank Stadium grass until receiving help from trainers. With Los Angeles leading 21-17, he was taken off the field and later carried to the locker room. The final score was 28-24 for the Chargers.

The seven-year veteran had three games with the Chargers in 2023 where he over 230 receiving yards. He hasn’t played a full season since 2018, missing four games, so injuries have been a persistent problem.

The Chargers will likely rely even more on fellow starter Keenan Allen, who delivered a trick touchdown pass against Minnesota on Sunday, with Williams out for the remainder of 2023. On L.A.’s depth chart at wide receiver, Josh Palmer, Quentin Johnston, and Derius Davis are also included.
