Outrage At Woman Who Climbs Into Trevi Fountain To Fill Up Water Bottle – Video

People were outraged when a woman was seen going into Rome’s famed Trevi Fountain to fill up her water bottle.

In the video, the tourist can be seen climbing over some rocks to get to the ancient site while shocked onlookers gaze on in horror.

The unnamed woman disregarded warning signs that were placed all around the fountain asking people not to step into the water.

A police officer from Italy approaches her at the conclusion of the now-viral video.

The video’s creator, Lex Jones, told Storyful that she knew she had to record the ridiculous scenario as it was happening in front of her as soon as she saw it.

“I was just like, wow, this is crazy so I started videoing it,” she explained.

Jones claimed that both she and those present were baffled by what the woman was doing and questioned whether she had missed the warning signs.

The trespasser did not appear to comprehend what she had done incorrectly when asked about her behavior, according to Jones.

The woman “kept trying to explain her side and didn’t really understand why she was in trouble,” she added.

One of the most visited tourist destinations in Italy is the Trevi Fountain, which attracts more than a thousand visitors every hour.

It has become customary for bystanders to toss coins into the fountain and make wishes.

This summer, tourists have also been acting rudely when visiting other Italian landmarks.

A man was nabbed in June vandalizing the Colosseum by etching graffiti into the walls with his keys.

One of the blocks had “Ivan + Hayley 23” etched into it by the man, which stunned eyewitness captured and posted to YouTube.

As of August 15, the video, “a* tourist carves name in Colosseum in Rome,” had received over 300,000 views.

Ivan Dimitrov, the alleged subject of the film, could be sentenced to up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $16,000.

Ryan Lutz, the onlooker who captured the incident, told MailOnline: “I couldn’t believe it when I saw what this jerk was doing to the brickwork.

“I’m fascinated by history and culture and here was this dumba** defacing it which is a crime and I wanted to do something about it,” Lutz said.

“I don’t understand what would possess someone to do something like that and I really hope that are caught and punished.”

Unfortunately, rude tourists are not unfamiliar to the Trevi fountain.

In August 2018, a group of males entered the fountain, started to strip, and then played in the water while either completely or almost completely naked.

Three women went swimming in their bikinis two years ago to cool off.

Many Romans have viewed their acts as being disrespectful to the monumentals.
