Madonna has postponed her “Celebration” world tour after she was rushed to a New York City intensive care unit to treat a bacterial infection.
The tour was to start in Vancouver, British Columbia, on July 15 and play two nights at Boston’s TD Garden Aug. 30-31 to celebrate her 40th anniversary.
“On Saturday, June 24, Madonna developed a serious bacterial infection which lead (sic) to a several-day stay in the ICU. Her health is improving, however, she is still under medical care. A full recovery is expected”, her manager, Guy Osears, said in a statement.
The statement also said the new dates for the tour will be released soon.
However, Osears’ statement contradicted reports which said she has since been discharged but was still sick and vomiting uncontrollably at home.
“Reports indicate that Madonna is still experiencing severe illness despite being discharged from the hospital. She remains in bed and continues to suffer from uncontrollable vomiting caused by a bacterial infection”, Marca said.
It also reported that Madonna was unable to leave her bed and the chances of her performing her planned tour were slim.
She was also said to have been battling a low-grade fever for a month, which she largely ignored due to her demanding touring schedule.
Her long-time friend Rosie O’Donnell created more stir when she replied to her post on Instagram saying that Madonna is “good,” and “is recovering at home – she is very strong in general.”
She made the assertion by sharing a photo of herself and Madonna as a guest on “The Rosie O’Donnell Show” in 1998.
And then, Showbiz411 reported that Ticketmaster was still selling tickets for every show beginning July 19th in Seattle, contrary again to what the manager Osears said.
“But so far, there’s no indication that anything has changed. Maybe that’s a good sign. The show will go on as planned? If you have Madonna tickets, please let me know via showbiz411@gmail.com if you’ve received word about your show”, they said.
