Video- 6 Adults and 3 Children Injured In Shooting At Hollywood Beach

A shooting at a Hollywood beach boardwalk in Florida left nine people injured on Monday.

According to the police, a suspect has been arrested and detained while a search is ongoing for another.

The Hollywood Beach shooting which happened at about 7 pm left 3 children and 6 adults injured – the youngest victim being a 1-year-old toddler. No death has been recorded and some of the wounded were taken to a children’s hospital.

According to Deanna Bettineschi, a spokesman for Hollywood Police Department, the cause of the shooting was due to an altercation between two rival groups.

Bettineschi also said the baby and three other children up to the age of 17 were injured, along with five adults whose ages ranged from 25 to 65, adding that one of the injured underwent Surgery late on Monday.

The Police said there would be a heavy presence of officers as the investigation continues. Officials were also setting up an area for family members to reunite.

Hollywood Beach is a popular beach destination about 11 miles (17 kilometers) south of Fort Lauderdale and 20 miles (32 kilometers) north of Miami. The beach was expected to see more visitors than usual with the Memorial Day holiday.
