The visionary behind “The Grown by Freedom” renowned Ukrainian businesswoman Alona Shevtsova, expressed to the press that her documentary provides a profound and comprehensive analysis of the Ukrainian people’s experiences during the humanitarian crisis triggered by Russia’s full-scale invasion in late February 2022. The film relies on authentic documentary footage captured during the initial stages of the invasion, bearing witness to bombings, devastated cities, and harrowing tales from eyewitnesses.
Audiences will witness the unity between Ukrainians and the business community as they confront this grave threat, discovering the unwavering courage and resolute determination of the Ukrainian people to safeguard their homeland.
Shevtsova remarked, “This movie will serve as a chronological testament that future generations can reference to truly comprehend the trials we endured. Only through such a film can we preserve and pass down our collective experience. Simultaneously, we aim to convey this message to people across nations, spanning the entire globe and all continents. Consequently, securing a contract with Netflix for the premiere of our documentary on their esteemed streaming platform has become our primary objective.”

The movie’s central heroes are individuals from the aforementioned organizations and others, driven to share their emotions and experiences with the audience. Notably, one of the film’s key protagonists is Irina, the mother of the renowned Azovstal defender Dmitry Kozatsky (aka “Orest”). Irina spent a significant period in Russian captivity and was eventually released through a prisoner-of-war exchange.
