Jonathan Marchessault scored three goals, making his second postseason hat trick as the Vegas Golden Knights won the Edmonton Oilers 5-2 in Game 6 of their second-round series on Sunday night.
“We’re only halfway done to our goal here,” Marchessault said. “We’re going to keep going until our organization, we win the ultimate goal. Tonight is just one step in the right direction.”
The Golden Knights’ victory has taken the team to the semifinal round – the fourth time in the franchise’s six-year history.
Reilly Smith and William Karlsson also scored for the Golden Knights, Ivan Barbashev gave two assists, and Adin Hill finished with 39 saves.
“I’ve worked very hard my whole life to get to the NHL and to be here,” 27-year-old Hill who is in his third career playoff start said. “It’s exciting being on a team that’s this good and has chance to really do it all, I’m grateful and I’m excited about it.”
The Vegas Golden Knights will next play against the winner of the series between Dallas and Seattle in Game 7 on Monday night.
