Artists Made To Sign In Contract That Their Name & Likeness Will Be Owned & Used In Perpetuity Throughout The Universe By Record Labels, Is Likened To Devil Owning Your Soul For Fame & Money, After Kanye Ye West Explains Meaning Of Defcon 3 (Deathcon 3), David Chapelle Video Rant

After a video surfaced on Kanye “Ye” West explained how artists have the Defcon 3 (Deathcon 3) signed in their contracts, David Chapelle reveals how record labels make aspiring artists agree by signing in their contract that their names and likeness will henceforth not be theirs anymore, and will be owned and used by the record label in perpetuity (forever) throughout the universe, many have come to liken it to the devil asking to sell and own your soul for money and world fame.

He revealed that Prince chose to call himself “The Artist” because that is what they are called and are referred to as in the contracts they sign with the record labels.

David Chapelle revealed that many young singers, actors, and comedians like himself don’t know what is contained inside the contract they are been required to sign, and are tricked or deceived into doing so.

He added that one would require a good legal practitioner to tell him all that the contract means and its implications.

He added that because he was naive, he lost the right to use “The Chapelle Show” if he wants to run another comedy show because due to a contract he signed.

In the comment section, Greyson shared her experience:

“Quick story about the industry: I’m 29 now, born in 1993. All my life since 8 years old I wanted to be famous. I could dance, I’ve always had great confidence and charisma. I developed my skills and would kill it so much in acting classes as an extreme method actor and had everyone in class either cheering, laughing or crying because I can deliver emotions like nobody’s business.”

“One day both my coaches who are signed to a huge talent agency and have coached and worked on film alongside A class actors said they wanted me to make a demo reel for their talent agency, nonetheless I killed it and got an invitation to go visit headquarters because the CEO (an older white woman named Sharon – that’s all I’ll say regarding that, you figure out the rest – rock n roll baby hint hint) wanted to speak to me personally.”

Long story short I was only 23, got in to speak with said person she was cool until we got down to business. I was 23 but wise enough to know to read everything in the contracts and fully understand the meaning. A red flag sounded off in my head when I asked to be given time to read the contract full, she said listen sweetie I’ve known and worked with your coaches for over 20 years you can trust me, I said this isn’t personal it’s business and I have to read this.”

I took over an hour to fully understand it and basically they would own my “likeness In perpetuity” and they would collect a 33% profit from anything I did moving forward that they got me and 25% of any work I found myself or any deals I did in the future forever regardless of the type of deal. Meaning I become rich and famous they take 33% of the top then after I retire I want to let’s say flip houses?”

“Then I pay the 25% off the top as well because it basically said in the contract I am nothing without them I wouldn’t have any money to invest if it want for them marketing me to the world etc etc and for that reason for all my life and even after my death they would continue profiting from me. I read the contract, put it down and walked out that office. I said thank you for the opportunity but I like owning my soul and I’m a ?? King not a prostitute, your money doesn’t entice me.”

They were shook. Shortly after my coaches dropped me. I’m 29 now, own three successful businesses, making money and investing and I’m about to start my own studio to produce short films and dance story films. It’s gonna be awesome! ❤❤❤ don’t sell your soul. Oh and I have a child now that won’t be raised in Hollywoods clutches. God is good, all the time.”

So probably, Kanye West might have lost the right to use his own name, and that is the reason why he came up with the new name “Ye”, and Prince lost the right to use his own name given to him by his mother, and have to come up with a new symbol that cannot be pronounced, representing both male and female, as his new name.

Another said; using your name for eternity throughout the universe sounds like selling you soul.

Arguing in favor of the record label, Mister Young said it’s only business and the label is only doing so to makeup for the risk they take byh using their money to try and make you famous.

“It’s not a conspiracy. If you sign a contract, you’re bound to honor it. These dudes are mad because they wanted fame so badly they took a shortcut. If you’re using someone else’s money to come up, you’re bound by their terms. They need to get their panties out of a bunch and be men about the situation they put themselves in.”
