Crystal Palace came from behind to take all three points against Leeds United, after a beautiful strike from Eberechi Eze sealed the deal for the home side.
Leeds United had deservedly taken the lead early in Sunday’s game when Pascal Struijk drove in after Brenden Aaronson hit the post following excellent work inside the box.
Palace were struggling to impose themselves and Patrick Bamford, making his first Leeds start since August, forced a save out of Vicente Guaita.
Odsonne Edouard equalized for the home side in the 24th minute after he headed home Michael Olise’s freekick.
Palace started the day in a relatively uncertain position, just one point above the bottom three after winning one of their first seven league games.
Leeds also began this match in dominant form as Palace struggled to deal with them, with Aaronson looking lively and Bamford sharp on his return to the starting XI.
But after Edouard’s goal, Leeds Struggle to find their rhythm and they only managed to scramble the ball as Crystal Palace became more organized.
Eberechi Eze secured the three points with an amazing individual strike, running across the edge of the area before firing low into the back of the net.
After the match, Patrick Vieira, head coach of the home side said:
“I think today wasn’t pretty, but we showed different tools that we need to win football matches.”
“I think we work hard together and the team spirit was spot on. That allowed us to go through those difficult periods. But now we have to build from that.”
The win – Palace’s first in five Premier League games – moves them up to 15th and three points clear of the relegation zone, level on nine points with Leeds, who are 14th.
