Barcelona got defeated by Bayern in their second Champions League group stage match and they were hoping to score some points with Inter Milan.

On three points from their first two Group C matches, Inter have beaten Czech champions Viktoria Plzen last time out and lost to Bayern Munich on the opening day.

Domestically, the Nerazzurri have endured their worst Serie A start for 11 years, after surrendering a one-goal advantage to lose 2-1 at home to Roma on Saturday.

Barcelona are unbeaten in seven La Liga matches after star striker Robert Lewandowski scored again on Saturday; his ninth goal of the season making the difference against Mallorca.

The Spanish giants took control of the ball from the beginning, applying pressure to get their team in front.

Inter had previously lost six Champions League matches against Barcelona – their most defeats against a single opponent. Barca, meanwhile, have only beaten Celtic more often in Europe’s top club competition.

The referee canceled a possible penalty for the hosts after the VAR officials asked him to look at the field monitor. Barella for still protesting after the penalty was denied.

Just before halftime, Inter were in front, when Calhanoglu picked out the bottom corner with a clinical strike from 25 yards, after receiving the ball from Dimarco. Ter Stegen had no chance.

In the 61st minute, Barca almost leveled the game when Dembele picked the ball up in space on the left side of the area and shot from a tight angle. The ball arrowed towards the near post but went off the woodwork and Onana’s outstretched glove! Inter dodge a bullet, and Barcelona’s frustration grows!

In the 667th minute, the visitor’s goal was canceled, as Fati touched the ball with his hand just before Pedri slotted the ball into the net.

After Inter visit Sassuolo and Barca host Celta Vigo at the weekend, these European heavyweights reconvene in Catalonia next week.
