Two kids who were allegedly kidnapped by their father at the Hampton Walmart on Sunday afternoon were the subject of an Amber Alert issued by Virginia State Police on Monday.
According to Hampton police, Timothy Paul Truitt, 36, of Newport News, was at the Walmart Supercenter at 1900 Cunningham Drive on Sunday with both kids and their legal guardian. But according to authorities, at around 2:30 p.m., Truitt and another guy “removed themselves” from the children’s guardian and left the business.
Jaxon Truitt, a 2-year-old boy, was in one man’s arms, while Adriana Truitt, a 1-year-old girl, was being transported in a car seat by the other man.
In a first news release on the kidnapping, Hampton police stated that they then exited the parking lot in a maroon Kia vehicle.
In the Amber Alert sent out Monday about 4:30 p.m., the Virginia State Police stated that “the children are considered to be in serious danger.”
Adriana is a white woman who weighs around 30 pounds and has sandy hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing red, white, and blue socks, a gray sweatshirt, and a white onesie with long sleeves.
Jaxon Truitt is a multiracial boy who weighs around 25 pounds and has brown eyes and hair. In addition to black sweatpants, gray and blue sneakers, and a long-sleeve black shirt with the words “Born to Win” in red, he was last seen wearing these items.

According to Hampton Police, he also has a 2004 Chevrolet Suburban in addition to the Kia car. The SUV has a maroon exterior and a USN20YR license plate.
According to the internet registry maintained by the Virginia State Police, Truitt is a recognized sexual offender. Additionally, it reveals a Newport News conviction from 2021 for failing to register as a sex offender.
