Artis Leon Ivey, alias Coolio died at the early age of 59 while visiting his friend in Los Angeles. Many citizens have assumed that his death might be drug-related, although the authorities have not confirmed that claim.

Coolio’s longtime manager, Jarez, says Coolio went to the bathroom at his friend’s house, but when he didn’t come out after a while. The friend kept calling for him, and eventually went in and found him laying still on the floor.

The friend called EMTs, who arrived and pronounced Coolio dead on the scene — and Jarez tells us the paramedics suspect he suffered cardiac arrest. An official cause of death has not been determined, since the case is still under investigation.

Coolio was a low-key rapper in Los Angeles who got his first break in 1995 when he released “Gangsta’s Paradise” for the soundtrack of the Michelle Pfeiffer film, “Dangerous Minds.” The song stayed number 1 on Billboard’s top 100 for three weeks.

He also takes credit for many rap songs in the 90s that got into Billboard’s top 100 like 1994’s “Fantastic Voyage” which hit number 3 on Billboard’s Hot 100.

The police have opened a death investigation but as of right now there do not appear to be signs of foul play. But, nobody can conclude till they decide to conduct an autopsy, and the results come out.

The authorities, alongside the paramedics, did not find any drugs or drug paraphernalia around the scene, so they might as well rule a drug possible death out.

Snoop Dogg took to his Instagram to share a picture of the two posing on the set of the music video for Gangsta Walk, a track they collaborated on in 2006, with a little RIP Coolio caption.
