In the upcoming Netflix spin-off, That ’90s Show, actress Mila Kunis said she believes her character from That ’70s Show ended up with the wrong person. Kunis, who is repeating her role as Jackie from the original American sitcom first broadcast in 1998, says she feels her character should have ended up with Fez (Wilmer Valderrama) instead of her current romantic partner.
In her opinion, Jackie, who is played by Kunis’ real-life husband Ashton Kutcher, shouldn’t have married Kelso. According to Kunis, the young romance between the two wouldn’t have endured as long as it did in the Netflix series, according to an interview with Access Hollywood that Entertainment Weekly has published.
In the new episode, Kunis said, “My husband and I are together, which is weird since we shouldn’t have been.” I said, “You know what, this is B.S. I remember thinking, “My character would be with Fez,” but I believe I ended up with Wilmer’s. “Why are you and I together?” I asked. She continued by saying that Kutcher’s persona couldn’t have worked since “he was married when the ’70s ended, I believe, to Shannon Elizabeth’s character.”
Although Kunis’ opinions about her character’s marriage to Kelso are based on the actual circumstances of the first season, she has admitted that the program is “really sweet” and that everyone should still watch
“Now that we’re married and have a child, it’s been around twenty years—no, sixteen years later, whatever. And I was like, ‘I don’t know about this one,'” Kunis recalled of her reaction to her character’s choice of husband in the current season compared to where the previous one left off. In the final season of the original series, Kelso marries Brooke, a character played by Elizabeth.
As a result of the couple’s pregnancy, Kelso had to relocate from Wisconsin to Chicago in order to be with his new family. He and Jackie both acknowledged their affection for one another but also that they needed to mature.
