Emily the Criminal, a September 2022 trending movie, written by John Patton Ford, produced by Low Spark films, and distributed by Vertical Entertainment tells the story of Emily (Aubrey Plaza) who is in debt and has struggled to pay off her student loans because of her felony conviction prevents her from getting a good job.
Emily the Criminal Plot
She has been going around asking people to help her with jobs to survive and a colleague in the catering company where she worked connected her to a dummy shop which does not seem so right, as she is told she could make up to $200 an hour working there.
What they do in the dummy shop comes to light and Emily sees that it is a credit card fraud circus. Youcef, one of the top guys is in charge of Emily, giving her instructions on what to do and sending her to commit more felonies. One of them goes badly and brings a confrontation which leaves Emily injured.
Youcef teaches her how to make fake credit cards, and gave her instructions on how to stay on top of her game. He also told her about her brother Khalil, but he had other intentions. The movie portrays Emily as a woman who put herself first, although in negative situations. She was able to get away and start her crime ring.
