Brentford started this season on a bright note, their biggest win being against Manchester United in the second Premier League match. They hosted Arsenal on Sunday, 18th of September, 2022.
Brentford’s strong start to the season continued last time out as the Londoners romped to a 5-2 victory over Leeds United away from home, where Gunners were still in great shape and arrive in Brentford looking for a win to return them to the top of the Premier League table for now.
Arsenal got into a comfortable start against their hosts and was dominant from the beginning. In the 17th minute, Arsenal forced a corner down their right. Saka whipped in the delivery and Saliba flicked it into the far bottom corner with his head. Raya tried to push the ball away but it had already crossed the line!
In the 28th minute, Gabriel Jesus made it two for Arsenal, after moving away from his marker to nod Xhaka’s gentle left-footed cross into the top left corner. By halftime, Arsenal led by two goals to nil.
Just as the second half got on the way, Arsenal get back into the goal business as Fabio Vieira controlled Saka’s pass inside and bent a left-footed curler into the bottom right corner, putting Arsenal another goal out of reach.
In the last ten minutes of the game, Brentford started pressing their visitors and they had a few chances to pull at least one goal back for their team, but they could not convert any opportunity. After 94 minutes, Arsenal took all three points and got another clean sheet.
