Aston Villa is currently number 13th on the Premier League table, as Jacob Ramsey’s lone goal was enough to secure all three points for the Home team.
After losing four of their last five Premier League, Aston Villa was the better side against Tottenham, as Steven Gerrard decided to start Coutinho and Young for Luiz and Cash.
Villa started with high adrenaline, pressing high up the field on Southampton’s side, but lost the ball in many instances. As the game progressed, the host pressed more high up the field. In the 41st minute, their hard work paid off, as Coutinho crosses the ball in following a short corner and Watkins forced Bazunu to tip his effort onto the bar. It bounced on the bar twice before falling to Ramsey, who rendered a brilliant finish.
After the goal, Aston Villa had more possession and more shots on target, but neither side could put more balls in the back of the net. At the end of 90 minutes, Jacob Ramsey’s lone goal was the decider that gave the hosts all the three points that they needed.
