Formula One has confirmed that the Belgian Grand Prix will remain on the calendar in 2023.
With the return of the Qatar Grand Prix, the addition of a race in Las Vegas, and the potential return of the Chinese and South African Grands Prix, the popular race at Spa-Francorchamps was under threat next year.
However, with South Africa’s Kyalami circuit no longer expected to be ready in time for 2023, an open slot for Spa-Francorchamps has become available.
The F1 calendar is limited to 24 races due to an agreement between the sport and the teams. F1 has promised that full details of next year’s calendar will be released “in due course.”
Despite the one-year extension, Spa’s long-term F1 future remains uncertain.
