Luke Knox, a football player for Florida International, passed away on Thursday at the age of 22. Knox, a Brentwood, Tennessee native and the younger brother of tight end Dawson Knox of the Buffalo Bills, played for Ole Miss for the previous four seasons before moving to FIU.

Knox, who majored in business, passed on Wednesday night, according to school authorities. Although the institution stated that police do not believe there has been foul play, the cause remains unknown.

When MacIntyre was the defensive coordinator at Ole Miss in 2019, Knox started two games at linebacker. He played largely on special teams the previous two seasons and finished 2021 with 11 tackles, including two for loss.

The news of Knox’s passing reached FIU teammates late on Wednesday.

Grief counselors were invited in to talk with the squad and other members of the campus community, and Thursday’s practice was postponed.

In a message sent out early on Thursday, Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin also expressed his sympathies.

Coach Sean McDermott of the Bills stated that Dawson Knox and his family will receive support from the team after hearing the news when he awoke on Thursday morning. The fourth-year tight end was absent from practice on Thursday.
