Thursday’s MLB Field of Dreams game featured the Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds, and FOX and the MLB showed a video tribute to actor Ray Liotta, narrated by co-star Kevin Costner.

Before passing away in May, Liotta played Shoeless Joe Jackson in the 1989 movie. With Liotta portraying Ray Kinsella in several moments, Costner made sure to emphasize how much the late actor meant to him.

Aged 67, Ray Liotta passed away. In addition to playing Jackson in “Field of Dreams,” Liotta also made an appearance in “Goodfellas” in 1990. Jackson was a player on the 1919 Chicago White Sox team.

Wednesday, one of the site’s proprietors, Frank Thomas, revealed that Kevin Costner wouldn’t be attending the Cubs and Reds game in Dyersville on Thursday. Thomas continued by expressing his desire for Costner’s return for the upcoming match.

In the popular 1989 movie, Costner portrayed Ray Kinsella. And he performed a historical entrance in the Field of Dreams game the previous year. Shortly before kickoff, Costner emerged from the cornfield and addressed the crowd.
