According to Pitchfork, one year after he released his debut studio album, his 2014 breakout effort My Krazy Life, YG was shot. He did not stay down.

The Compton rapper came back the next year, just as brazenly honest about the realities of his life, with a song called “Who Shot Me?” As a storyteller, YG’s projects are peppered with comical skits and L.A. street mythology.
