In 2017, the R&B superduo Silk Sonic was formed by Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak “as a joke the two friends hatched on the road.”
In 2021, Bruno Mars announced that he and .Paak had formed a band and would be releasing an album shortly. The said album is An Evening With Silk Sonic, released on November 12, 2021.
Prior to the formation of Silk Sonic, Mars and .Paak began their musical collaboration in 2017 with the former as the opening act of the European leg of Bruno Mars’ 24k Magic World Tour.
On the 5th of March 2021, the band released Leave the Door Open, the lead single of their debut album.
