After a cold front blew through the state, temperatures dropped by 50 degrees, rain turned to snow.

Winter storm warnings have been issued for the whole metro region, the Palmer Divide, and parts of Grand and Park counties, with 4 to 12 inches of snow expected. Winter storm warnings for 8 to 20 inches of snow have been issued for Summit County and parts of the foothills.

Overnight, snow began to fall across the northern highlands and foothills, and rain is also falling. According to the NWS, the storm will continue to move south during the morning and should reach the metro region by midday Friday.

5:20 a.m. | Weather | According to Denver7 meteorologist Lisa Hidalgo, the cold front has dropped temperatures by 50 degrees and snow is already falling in parts of Colorado.

The Colorado Avalanche Information Center is warning that the avalanche threat in the Northern Mountains will increase on Saturday; they’ll release an update at 4 p.m.

Several graduation ceremonies had to be rescheduled due to inclement weather. Centaurus High School and Peak to Peak Charter School have relocated to the 1ST Bank Center and will continue to meet on their normal schedule. Broomfield High School and Monarch High School will both be relocating to 1ST Bank Center on Friday.

Boulder High School has rescheduled its game for Sunday morning at Recht Field. Lakewood High School and Jefferson High School held their graduation ceremonies in their respective school gymnasiums. The National Western Stock Show Stadium became home to Ralston Valley High School. The graduation ceremonies for Adams 14 have been moved indoors. The Mapleton Public Schools ceremony has been rescheduled for May 22 at 10 a.m. on the field at DiTirro Stadium. The ceremonies for Chatfield and Columbine will be held at the Denver Coliseum.

Global Dub Fest, which was supposed to take place on May 21 at Red Rocks, has been canceled.

The Levitt Pavillion’s free Black Uhuru event has been rescheduled for September 30. Sunday’s show is still Caifanes & La Santa Cecilia.
