Like the rest of the college football world, Lane Kiffin of Ole Miss is fascinated by Alabama coach Nick Saban and Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher’s verbal sparring.
Saban fueled the fires of controversy on Wednesday night when he started Texas A&M bought every player in their No. 1 recruiting class while speaking at a fundraiser. Fisher retaliated with a furious press conference on Thursday morning, describing Saban as a narcissist and his statements as “despicable.”
This is hardly Kiffin’s first rodeo. In February, Kiffin poked the bear by suggesting that Texas A&M could have to pay a “luxury tax” due to the amount of money the Aggies were supposed to have raised for athlete name, image, and likeness deals.
At different periods in their careers, Kiffin and Fisher served as offensive coordinators for Saban. In the SEC West division, all three are now head coaches. This year, Ole Miss will face Texas A&M on Oct. 29 and Alabama on Nov. 12.
Kiffin did what he does all the time in the hours preceding up to and minutes after Fisher’s press conference: he watched it on Twitter.
