Britney Spears, the 40-year-old pop singer, confirmed her pregnancy on Instagram on Monday.
Spears stated in her article that she began to gain weight shortly after a trip to Maui with her fiancé, Sam Asghari. “So I got a pregnancy test… and uhhhhh well… I am having a baby,” she wrote.
The announcement of Spears’ pregnancy comes months after a judge overturned her 13-year conservatorship following a high-profile legal struggle with her father. Spears’ life and the decisions she could make, including her career, finances, and health, were severely hampered as a result of this agreement. After suffering from mental health concerns, the singer was placed under her conservatorship in 2008.
She told a Los Angeles Superior Court judge in a shocking hearing last June that she wanted to have another kid but was forced to have an IUD in place due to her conservatorship.
Spears already has two sons from her former marriage to Kevin Federline: Sean Preston Federline, 16, and Jayden James Federline, 15.
Spears posted on Monday that she will be spending less time out in public to avoid the paparazzi, and that she suffered from perinatal depression throughout her previous pregnancies.
She ended her message with an optimistic note, stating, “I’m going to do yoga every day this time!!! Bringing joy and love to as many people as possible!!!”
