Saint Peter’s appears to be that team for the 2022 NCAA men’s basketball tournament. The No. 15 seed went from upsetting No. 2 seed Kentucky 85-79 in overtime in the first round to defeating No. 7 Murray State only two days later, becoming the tournament’s third No. 15 seed to reach the Sweet 16.
The Peacocks jumped out to a 32-27 lead at halftime, and their scorching play style carried them to a 70-60 triumph. Against the Racers, Saint Peter’s forward KC Ndefo led the way with 17 points, 10 rebounds and six blocks.
The winner of Sunday’s showdown between No. 3 Purdue and No. 6 Texas will be Saint Peter’s next opponent, and it will have a chance to become the only No 15 seed to reach the Elite Eight.
Oral Roberts beat Ohio State and Florida to reach the Sweet 16 a year ago before losing by two to Arkansas. In 2013, Florida Gulf Coast became the third program to accomplish the acccomplishment.
