Saturday Night Live’s Host Colin Jost and his wife, Scarlett Johansson, have been featured in a Super Bowl commercial.
In the ad, Amazon makes fun of Alexa’s ability to follow vocal commands. It reimagines Alexa being able to read Colin Jost and Scarlett Johansson’s minds.
It begins with the couple in the living, and at the word, “Alexa, it’s game day!” Alexa responds by streaming the game on Prime, shutting blinds, and cooling Rosé.
It shows Alexa ordering a mint for Scarlett’s breath, starting the blender to drown Jost’s voice while he was distracting the actress; setting a reminder for Colin Jost to fake his death and miss a boring show his wife acted out in front of him; playing Tell Me Lies when Scarlett said denies scenes with hot guys being fun, and finally ratting out the actress at a family dinner.
I’m not sure if Alexa’s ability to read minds can be considered a utopian or dystopian phenomenon, but it sure as hell would be an uncomfortable piece of technology for most couples.
