The Bryant family is suing the county and some employees and agencies for sharing the dead bodies of Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna, and seven others who lost their lives in a helicopter crash.
It was reported that the images were shared on at least 28 devices belonging to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department personnel. It was also traced to many other devices belonging to Los Angeles County firefighters.
Vanessa Bryant, the widow of Lakers Kobe Bryant, said she was distraught at the manner photos of her late husband and daughter were handled.
“I also feel extreme sadness and anger knowing that photos of my husband’s and daughter’s bodies were laughed about while shown at a bar and an awards banquet.”
However, the county’s lawyer, Louis Miller, though sympathizing with the Bryant, said the leak of Kobe Bryant and daughter’s dead body photos were not their fault. He said they;
“responded to that crash and, at her specific request, set up a no-fly zone, undertook extensive efforts to keep the public and paparazzi away, and made sure none of the investigative photos were ever publicly disseminated. The County did its job and believes there is no merit to this lawsuit.”
