Photos Of Accident Scene: Charlotte Police Woman Killed In Truck Crash

A Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer – Mia Goodwin lost her life in a multiple vehicular crash early Wednesday on Interstate 85 in north Charlotte in the southbound lanes near Exit 45, at W.T. Harris Boulevard.

Stating the events that led to her death, Johnny Jennings, chief of Charlotte-Mecklenburg police department (CMPD) said, it all started after police officers and responders were sent to the area following a tractor-trailer accident at about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The police officers remained on duty while the Department of Transportation worked to clear up the crash site, whilst traffic was also been directed.

Then at about 3.40 am, another mini truck and trailer collided with another truck, and both slammed into the officers of the CMPD on ground.

The crash injured three officers; Shannon Foster, Officer Sean Husk, and Jackson Buffington while Mia Goodwin was pronounced dead at the accident scene.

The other three injured police officers were treated at the hospital and have been released.

The deceased officer; Mia Goodwin, is married to a firefighter with the Charlotte Fire Department. She was a mother of three; a 3-year-old, a 1-year-old, and a 4-month-old and had just returned from her maternity leave a few days ago.
