It would be an understatement to say that Louisville’s football team’s loss to Syracuse last Saturday wasn’t the season-opening victory that Louisville supporters had hoped for.

It was last week, though. The University of Central Florida game today offers fresh optimism for a better result. Obviously, difficulties will arise.

John Rhys Plumlee, an Ole Miss transfer, is the quarterback for the fast-paced UCF offence. In a 56-10 victory over South Carolina State in Week 1, he threw for 308 yards and four touchdowns on 20 of 31 attempts. With all five of UCF’s secondary starters back this year, the defence also has issues.

The Cards defeated Central Florida 42–35 in the previous campaign. However, Louisville is a 5.5-point underdog in this year’s contest.

THE RESULT IS: Louisville 20, UCF 14
After losing to UCF in Week 1, Louisville bounces back to defeat them in Week 2.

“Our defense played outstanding,” coach Scott Satterfield said after the game. “They came to play tonight.”

Malik Cunningham rushed for 121 yards and completed 14 of 29 passes for 201 yards (17 carries). Three catches for 67 yards were made by Tyler Hudson.

At 3:41 in the fourth quarter, Jarvis Brownlee of Louisville intercepts a pass intended for UCF.
With time running down, Louisville stops UCF from scoring on fourth and goal. With a 20-14 advantage, the Cards will seize control when Jarvis Brownlee intercepted it.
