Kate Hudson, renowned for her numerous acting roles and accolades, is embarking on a new chapter in her career: music.
Appearing as a guest on Thursday’s episode of “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon,” the 45-year-old “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” star discussed her decision to release her debut album, “Glorious.”
“I love music. I’ve loved music my entire life. It was my first love, and I’ve been writing music my whole life,” Hudson told Fallon, who was her “Almost Famous” co-star two decades ago. “And I thought it was something I’d only have for myself until, like, COVID. And then I was like, ‘I’ll regret not just putting it out in the world.'”
In a notable television milestone, the Oscar nominee showcased her musical talents by performing her latest track, “Gonna Find Out,” clad in a floor-length bohemian dress reminiscent of her iconic style from “Almost Famous.”
Having launched her inaugural single, “Talk About Love,” in January, Hudson has followed up with releases like “Love Forever” and “Gonna Find Out,” building anticipation for her album’s release on May 17.
During her conversation with Fallon, Hudson revealed the eclectic blend of influences in her music, including country, Americana, and pop, crafted alongside co-writers Linda Perry and Danny Fujikawa, her fiancé, resulting in a prolific output of 26 songs in just two weeks.
In a recent interview with “CBS Sunday Morning,” Hudson reflected on her lifelong penchant for songwriting, tracing back to the genesis of the tracks featured on “Glorious,” a creative endeavor initiated two years prior.
With musical lineage coursing through her veins—Bill Hudson of The Hudson Brothers being her biological father—Hudson’s venture into the music industry feels like a natural progression, despite encountering discouragement from doing so a decade ago.
