White House Physician: Joe Biden Is Better But Taking More Medication For Covid

The President has taken more drugs to treat his fever and cough, but his doctor reported that President Joe Biden’s Covid-19 symptoms “had improved” on Friday.

Biden had a temperature of 99.4 degrees on Thursday night, which was treated with Tylenol, according to a letter from Dr. Kevin O’Connor.

Since then, “His temperature has stayed normal,” O’Connor reported.

He is also receiving treatment with “oral hydration” and an albuterol inhaler, according to O’Connor.

Runny nose and tiredness remain Biden’s symptoms. The President had a dry cough earlier on Thursday, but now, according to O’Connor, he has “an occasional non-productive, now ‘loose’ cough.”

The antiviral medicine Paxlovid from Pfizer is still being taken by the President. Crestor and Eliquis were discontinued by Biden “during Paxlovid treatment and for several days following his last dose,” according to O’Connor. During Paxlovid therapy, specific drugs like Crestor and Eliquis are avoided in order to prevent a drug interaction.

In his letter on Friday, O’Connor repeated his belief that “Biden will respond well” to treatment. The White House medical staff will keep Biden sedated and “closely” watch over him.

Dr. Ashish Jha, the White House’s coronavirus coordinator, stated earlier on Friday to John Berman on CNN’s “New Day” that Biden’s symptoms were still modest as of Thursday night, implying that they were “essentially the same” for the President.

Jha continued, “The American people will have a very thorough, detailed picture of how the President is doing” because other officials are in contact with Biden.

Jha claimed that while they “don’t know much” about how the President got the virus, they are still looking for any of his close associates. He claimed he was not aware of any other incidents.

Karine Jean-Pierre, the press secretary for the White House, and Jha are scheduled to address media on Friday afternoon.
