At UFC 276 neither Pedro Munhoz nor Sean O’Malley was successful.

Due to Munhoz’s (19-7 MMA, 9-7 UFC) inability to see out of his right eye as a result of an unintentional eye poke from O’Malley (15-1 MMA, 7-1 UFC), the bantamweight fight finished in a draw. At the 3:09 mark of Round 2, the contest was called off. The main event of UFC 276 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas kicked off with the bout.

The battle progressed as a technical striking contest with both fighters remaining patient until it was stopped. Munhoz struck O’Malley’s lead leg with one of his trademark leg kicks.

O’Malley used good footwork and long punches while attempting to keep Munhoz at a distance.

During the second round’s second half, Munhoz was fouled, and as soon as O’Malley’s open palm raked his face, he screamed in anguish. Jason Herzog, the referee, requested the assistance of the cage-side doctor. All Munhoz could see was darkness, he was admitted to the physician. Munhoz was asked to wait by Herzog. The physician informed Herzog at a follow-up meeting that he had observed damage to the rear of the eye. Herzog only needed to hear it to back off from a confrontation.

O’Malley initially displayed his showmanship by celebrating his trademark basketball jump shot. But as he moved over to Munhoz and shook his hand, his demeanor abruptly altered, and he was genuinely dissatisfied.
