Bryan Barberena submitted former welterweight champion, Robbie Lawler, with a standup TKO in the second round, giving the UFC 276 PPV main card its first victory. This fight was conducted entirely on foot, with much of it taking place on a napkin. Barberena used a tonne of volume in the first round, launching well over 100 blows. The decisive moment occurred in the second round when Bryan rocked Robbie inside elbows before delivering haymakers against the cage to terminate the fight in a standing TKO. Barberena has undoubtedly achieved her biggest victory so far.
Lawler seized control of the center of the Octagon and slowly advanced. He was using punches to strike the body, while Barberena was using leg kicks. In the opening exchanges in the pocket, both combatants connected with powerful blows. Barberena was throwing a lot of volumes, seemingly never stopping, and even threw a few elbows in there and there. Both men refused to yield any ground during the ongoing phone booth brawl.
In the second round, Lawler began to pop his jabs, and one of them appeared to sting Barberena. As the round went on, Bryan began to throw more punches, but Lawler was doing a fantastic job of parrying them and retaliating.
Robbie began to feel overpowered by Barberena as she accelerated the pace and continued to pile it on. He was able to shock Lawler by returning to his inside elbow position. Bryan took advantage of the opportunity and launched haymakers and large bombs at Robbie, causing the referee to intervene.
Robbie Lawler was defeated by Bryan Barberena via TKO in round two of the welterweight fight.
