Reports have it that a federal high court sitting in Abuja has cleared and discharged former NNPC boss identified as Andrew Yakubu of the $9.8million money laundering charge laid against him.
The case was preceded by a judge identified as Justice Ahmed Mohammed who stated that the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFFC) failed to prove reliable evidence back its claims against the ex-NNPC boss.
It was accounted that officers of the anti-graft agency stormed the residence of Yakubu in the year 2017 and they found $9,772, 800, and £74, 000 in his possession which they believed embezzled while he was in office.
During the court’s recent gearing where Yakubu was discharged, the court disclosed that the means through which Yakubu got the money “was not only credible but reliable” which was beloved he got as a gift from his friends.
