Kylian Mbappe has leveled Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal after he matched the Portuguese international record for the most goal scored in a single UEFA Champions League group stage.
Mbappe, who plays forward for Real Madrid displayed a beautiful performance as the team trashed his former club, AS Monaco 6–1 at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The French man who faced his former team netted double in the first 45 minutes of the game to take his total to 11 in the Champions League this season and achieved in only six games
Mbappe netted the game’s first goal after five minutes the referee blew the starting whistle as he gently finished a pass that came from Federico Valverde. He scored the second goal in the 26th minute, firing home a cross from Vinicius Jr at the far post.
Mbappe now share the same goal record in the UEFA Champions League group stage with Ronaldo, who achieved the same record during the 2015–16 campaign.
Mbappe may likely surpass Ronaldo’s record as he has one league-phase match to go against Benfica.
He is also on the verge of equally or moving past Ronaldo’s single-season Champions League record of 17 goals.
