Ousmane Dembele, a forward for Paris Saint-Germain, has secured his first-ever Ballon d’Or after his performance in the 2024/25 season that secured a historic treble for his side: Champions League, Ligue 1, and French Cup.

The French international, who is only 28 years old, recorded 14 assists and scored 35 goals in 53 matches. Dembele also netted 21 goals in the local league to emerge as a joint top goal scorer in Ligue 1.

The Frenchman was credited with the award of player of the year in both Champions League and Ligue 1; his mark was felt in his club’s run to the final of the Club World Cup.

Being a world-class center-forward scoring 30 goals at the end of mid-December for Dembele was inspired by a tactical approach by head coach Luis Enrique, who was also named as the Coach of the Year.

French giant team, PSG, received the award as the best Team of the Year. The team got a major stake in Ballon d’Or rankings this year; aside from Dembele emerging as best, Vitinha came third, Hakimi was the best sixth, and ninth was awarded to Donnarumma, while Nuno Mendes was 10th best.

Lamine Yamal, Barcelona’s wonderkid, finished second on the list and won the Kopa Trophy, while Liverpool talisman and Egyptian Mohamed Salah finished fourth.
