Three points secured by Manchester United after earning a 2-1 win against London giant Chelsea at Old Trafford gives Ruben Amorim the much-needed confidence as the season proceeds.
The game starts on a bad note for Chelsea after their goalkeeper, Robert Sanchez, was shown a red card just five minutes into the match, giving the home side an early opportunity.
The match recorded Manchester United’s skipper’s 200th Premier League appearance and his 100th goal for the Red Devils before Casemiro sealed the club’s win with a goal. Casemiro, a Brazilian international, was later sent off for a second booking a few minutes before the first half whistle was blown.
The game did not end without Chelsea scoring a goal while Manchester United kept on with much effort to earn a second win in five Premier League matches. Trevoh Chalobah scored the only Chelsea goal in the 80th minute of the game.
This result pushed United to ninth position on the league table, a position far away from the relegation zone.
Manchester United’s head coach, Ruben Amorim, spent a lot in the summer to reposition the team, but has only been able to achieve nine wins in 32 league games since he took over last November from Erik ten Hag.
The manager ensures that he has the support of co-owner Jim Ratcliffe despite an embarrassing League Cup exit to Grimsby and a 3-0 loss to fellow Manchester side, City.
