Sources on Tuesday confirmed that the Houston Texans are set to let their C.J. Gardner-Johnson go due to a dispute that happened.
KPRC2’s Aaron Wilson mentioned that safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson, who is now 27 years old, who earlier expected to manage the defense, became frustrated with his position of play and asked that he be allowed to leave.
This dispute is coming after he converted more than $6.5 million from his salary into a signing bonus.
The player joined the Houston Texans from the Philadelphia Eagles in a trade this offseason, but he featured in only three matches, in which he posted 15 tackles and a 63.4 PFF defensive grade.
He spent only three years with the New Orleans Saints after being drafted in 2019 before he joined the Philadelphia Eagles in 2022, where he tied for the lead in the NFL with six interceptions in 12 games.
Part of his achievement with the Philadelphia Eagles includes helping them in 2024 to earn Super Bowl LIX and an extra six-pick season.
The player has now entered free agency. He is known to be very good on the pitch despite not featuring in some games lately. He could not perform his best in 2023 before the injury that he encountered.
