Fabio Carvalho’s late goal in the 93rd minute gave Brentford one point, a 2-2 draw against Chelsea, not long after Moises Caicedo netted Chelsea’s second goal.
Brentford secured the early lead after Kevin Schade scored a fine goal in the first half through a calculated pass from teammate Jordan Henderson.
Brentford got a home advantage in the opening period, denying Chelsea players the opportunity to display their talents. Chelsea only recorded one attempt on target in the first half, which led coach Enzo Maresca to make three substitutions in the second half.
Coach Enzo Maresca brought in Tyrique George to replace Facundo Buonanotte, and Wesley Fofana and Jorrel Hato were replaced at full-back with Reece James and Marc Cucurella.
The substitutions boosted the Blues’ performances, as Cole Palmer scored an equalizer just five minutes after he was introduced to the game in the 56th minute.
The pressure introduced to the game by Chelsea later paid off when Caicedo placed a shot from the edge at about the 85th minute of the match.
The game, which seemed to have ended with Chelsea securing three points, took a swift turnaround as Carvalho fired into Chelsea’s net by converting a long throw from Schade.
