Kevin De Bruyne played his last home game for Manchester City with a 3-1 victory against Bournemouth to get closer to qualifying for the next Champions League.
The win was much-needed for Pep Guardiola’s side to secure a slot in the next UEFA Champions League after their FA Cup final loss to Crystal Palace.
The first goal of the match was scored by Omar Marmoush through a hard shot from 30 yards away from the post. De Bryune missed a golden opportunity of doubling City’s lead, firing a close-range ball up the crossbar.
Bernardo Silva’s effort at close range earned the team a 2-0 lead, though Evanilson also made an attempt for Bournemouth, but the effort hit the crossbar.
Rodriguez finally returned to featuring for his club after missing games because of injury, which caused loud cheers from the home fans.
Nico Gonzalez, who came on as a substitute, fired a wide shot, making it three goals for City, before Dan Jebbison scored a late goal to earn Bournemouth one, but the result ended their hopes of a European appearance.
The match did not end without its own drama as both sides finished the game with 10 men. A red card was shown to Mateo Kovacic for a last-man foul he committed on Evanilson, while Lewis Cook was sent out of the game for a hard tackle on Gonzalez.
City need at least a draw against Fulham to secure their place in the UEFA Champions League next season.
