Inter Milan’s journey in the UEFA Champions League this season is still alive after they played a dramatic 2-2 draw at the San Siro against Bayern Munich to secure a 4-3 aggregate win.

Inter Milan, who last played against Catalan giants Barcelona at this stage fifteen years ago en route to a record-breaking treble, are hoping to achieve the same record again.

In an attempt to upturn the 2-1 record against them in the first leg, Bayern Munich put up an aggressive start. Intern Milan’s strong defense was tested in the early minutes of the match by Thomas Mueller and Michael Olise.

Hakan Çalhanoğlu fired strongly against Yann Sommer, while Matteo Darmian and Sommer recorded several stops at the other end.

The match ended in a 0-0 first-half draw before England’s Harry Kane fired into Inter Milan’s net in the second half, making it his 11th goal in the competition this season through a calm conversion from an assist by Federico Dimarco.

Not long after Harry Kane broke the deadlock, Lautaro Martinez helped Inter to equalize from a corner after an initial header that he made but rebounded off Joshua Kimmich.

While the game proceeded, Benjamin Pavard fired in a header that gave the Italian side their lead. Bayern Munich refused to relent in the hope that they would equalize until Eric Dier made a header that went into the goal post.

Inter Milan continued to hold their defense despite late pressure that came from Bayern Munich players, making it Bayern’s first time they will play an away game against Inter Milan and securing them their semifinals.
