The local authorities arrived at Troy Hospital by 7 am after the hospital security called 911 about a shooting that occurred in a parking garage at the health system campus.
Immediately after the shooting, the hospital was on lockdown till the police arrived since the shooter was not yet in custody.
However, the authorities conducted a ground investigation and determined that the incident took place between two employees of the hospital.
The victim was a 25-year-old man who was shot twice in the arm. The employees who witnessed the incident said they heard five shots from the parking garage. The victim’s car also had bullet holes.
When the police arrived at the scene, the suspect had left the hospital. They searched the area, even with helicopters and K-9s, but the suspect was not found.
Since the suspect is considered to still be armed and dangerous, the authorities have asked the public to avoid the area and stay indoors.
The victim was quickly attended to since the crime scene was a hospital.
“Patients with services scheduled should not come to the hospital at this time,” the health system stated.
“Patients may call the department where they were scheduled for service directly. No other information is available at this time.”
