Chris Wood scored three goals (hat trick) at the City Ground as Nottingham Forest destroyed Brighton 7-0 as they continued to push to qualify for the next Champions League.

The team bounced back from a recent embarrassing defeat last weekend when it lost 5-0 to Bournemouth with goals from Jota Silva, Neco Williams, and Morgan Gibbs-White. Lewis Dunk also scored an own goal that emboldened the opposition to comfortably snatch the three points.

This win put Nottingham Forest on the same points as second-placed Arsenal as they garnered seven points to lead Chelsea in sixth position on the Premier League table.

A team that finished in fifth position could feature in the next Champions League football with Premier League teams performing very well in Europe.

Nottingham Forest is on the run to play in the Champions League game again after their last play in 1996. The club boasts of winning the Cup in 1979 and 1980 under manager Brian Clough.

A good run of winning 10 of the 12 games this season has put Forest on course to achieve playing in the next Champions League.

Fabian Hürzeler, the head coach of Brighton, got his calculation wrong as he set up an attacking lineup that backfired as his team was dominated by the pace and precision from the Forest.

Dunk netted the first goal, which set an embarrassing stage for Brighton.
