Luck finally finds Southampton as they cruised past Ipswich Town 2-1 at Portman Road on Saturday to end their 13-match winless streak, courtesy of goals from two Super Eagles stars, Joe Aribo and Paul Onuachu.

The club, which needed an emergency turnaround in the Premier League this season, entered their 24th Premier League match with a need for an important victory. Ivan Juric, the head coach of Southampton, trusted Aribo and Onuachu, and the two Nigerians did not disappoint him.

It was not one of Ipswich Town’s best days. They dominated the game against Southampton as the game began, with Julio Enciso putting Gavin Bazunu, Southampton’s goalkeeper, on the test many times.

Southampton quickly bounced back after Aribo scored the first goal of the match in the 21st minute, as he took advantage of a loose ball and gave it a beautiful finish.

Just 10 minutes after the jubilation that followed Aribo’s goal, Ipswich returned the goal to make it a draw with a goal from Liam Delap. Paul Onuachu sealed the win for Southampton just before the end of the game in the 87th minute, converting a nice shot from Arijanet Muric into a goal.

The victory pushes Southampton and boosts their confidence with the hope that they can fight to regain form in the local league.
