Amad Diallo netted a surprising late hat trick that pushed Manchester United to a 3-1 comeback win against Southampton to avoid a fourth straight home loss.
Southampton dominated the game in the early minutes while Manchester United’s goalkeeper, Andre Onana, denied their opponents many opportunities through outstanding saves. Among those that Onana denied include Kamaldeen Sulemana’s and two shots from Tyler Dibling and Mateus Fernandes.
Southampton finally earned the lead in the late minutes of the first half after a Dibling flick deflected off Manuel Ugarte to be a goal.
As the second half started, Manchester United struggled again with another opportunity for the team missed by Antony and Sulemana striking a shot at the other end.
The drama came in when Diallo went further to save Manchester United in the last 10 minutes with an equalizer goal after a shot that deflected went into the net.
Not too long after, Diallo scored a double after successfully converting a pass from Christian Eriksen. He made a hat trick in stoppage time when he scored another goal by converting Taylor Harwood-Bellis’ mistake to earn a noteworthy comeback for the Red Devils.
