Country music star Rory Feek has begun a new chapter in his life, marrying his daughter’s schoolteacher, Rebecca, in a heartwarming ceremony in Montana. The 59-year-old singer shared the joyful news on his blog, detailing the intimate wedding that took place on July 14.

The ceremony, held “under a beautiful timber-frame pavilion” in Greycliff, Montana, was attended by close friends and family, including Feek’s 10-year-old daughter, Indiana. In a touching moment, Feek surprised his bride with a special wedding song he had written for the occasion.

“I sang at a wedding this past weekend. The only thing was… the bride had no idea. Neither did most of the family and friends who came,” Feek wrote.

This marriage comes eight years after the passing of Rory Feek’s previous wife, Joey, who died in 2016 after a battle with cancer. The couple’s love story and Joey’s fight against cancer had touched many fans’ hearts. He had also written about her passing on his blog.

“My wife’s greatest dream came true today. She is in Heaven. The cancer is gone, the pain has ceased and all her tears are dry,” Rory wrote at the time. “Joey is in the arms of her beloved brother Justin and using her pretty voice to sing for her savior. At 2:30 this afternoon, as we were gathered around her, holding hands and praying … my precious bride breathed her last. And a moment later took her first breath on the other side.”

Rory Feek shared that the path to this new relationship was carefully navigated, especially considering his young daughter’s feelings. He explained,

“Her love for her Mama is so great and so big in her life. Neither Rebecca or I wanted to hurt that in any way.”

Interestingly, it was Indiana who first suggested the idea of marriage. Feek recounted his daughter saying to Rebecca,

“Ms. Rebecca, I think you should marry Papa… my Mama’s been gone a long time. And if she marries you, maybe she could be my new mother.”

The wedding day itself was filled with emotional moments. The groom described the joy of seeing Indiana welcome Rebecca into their family, calling it “by far my and her favorite moment of the wedding.”

Rory Feek also reflected on the unexpected nature of him finding love again.

“I found myself thinking about how blessed I was to be given the opportunity to love again,” he wrote. “To not only feel loved but to have the chance to give love once more.”
