Minnesota Vikings rookie cornerback Khyree Jackson, 24, was among three victims of a fatal car crash in Prince George’s County, Maryland, early Saturday morning.

Maryland State Police reported that Jackson was a passenger in a Dodge Charger involved in a three-vehicle collision on Route 4. The Charger was struck by a speeding Infiniti attempting to change lanes, resulting in a crash that also claimed the lives of Isaiah Hazel, 23, and Anthony Lytton Jr., 24.

Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell expressed his grief on X, stating,

“I am absolutely crushed by this news. Khyree brought a contagious energy to our facility and our team.” He added, “His confidence and engaging personality immediately drew his teammates to him.”

Khyree Jackson, a fourth-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, had shown promise during his college career at Oregon. His potential was evident, with O’Connell noting that “Khyree was going to develop into a tremendous professional football player.”

The Vikings organization also offered their support to Jackson’s family and team members. “We are devastated by the news of Khyree Jackson’s death,” the team stated, offering counseling services to those affected.

The NFL also mourned Jackson’s passing, with the league stating,

“The NFL family is deeply saddened and devastated by the passing of Vikings rookie Khyree Jackson. Our thoughts and condolences are with his family, loved ones and everybody involved in this tragic accident.”

The police suspect alcohol may have contributed to the crash. Investigation is currently ongoing.
