Katy Perry, known for her bold fashion choices, had a close call with an unconventional wardrobe selection during this week’s episode of “American Idol.”
During Monday’s installment of the reality singing competition, the pop star and seasoned “Idol” judge encountered a potentially embarrassing moment when her structured silver top seemed on the verge of breaking apart. To avoid any mishaps, Perry improvised by holding her clothing in place with her arms and even using a pillow for added coverage at one point.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight afterward, Perry downplayed the incident, humorously characterizing it as more of a “moment for TV” than a wardrobe malfunction.
When the interviewer suggested that her fellow judge Luke Bryan might have inadvertently caused the top to break, Perry jokingly accused him of setting her up.
Reflecting on her final season as an “American Idol” judge, Perry described the experience as “wild” and noted how quickly time had flown by.
Having served as a judge for seven seasons alongside Lionel Richie and Bryan since 2018, Perry shared her decision to step down from the show, explaining that she’s making room for new opportunities. Despite leaving “American Idol,” she emphasized that she’s not planning to retire to an island but rather focus on her upcoming projects, including her eagerly anticipated next album, currently referred to as “KP6.”
Perry’s previous album, “Smile,” was released in 2020, and fans are eagerly awaiting her next musical endeavor.
