Chicago Bulls’ head coach Billy Donovan confirmed that guard Alex Caruso has received medical clearance to participate in Friday’s pivotal play-in game against the Miami Heat.
Caruso sustained a left ankle injury during Wednesday’s game against the Atlanta Hawks, following a collision with center Andre Drummond. Caruso mentioned that the incident exacerbated a pre-existing ankle issue he had been managing throughout the season.
Yet, as Friday morning arrived, Caruso reported that the swelling around his ankle had subsided, indicating that it was no longer a concern. He expressed confidence during the shootaround, stating his readiness for Friday’s elimination game.
For the second consecutive season, the Chicago Bulls and the Miami Heat will vie for the No. 8 seed. The victor will progress to face the Boston Celtics in the next stage, commencing on Sunday.
Both teams are grappling with injury setbacks leading up to the crucial matchup. Miami will be missing forward Jimmy Butler due to an MCL sprain, along with Terry Rozier, who is sidelined with a neck injury.
Donovan also disclosed that guard Ayo Dosunmu, dealing with a quad concern, and Drummond, nursing an ankle injury, have been cleared to play despite being listed as questionable for the Bulls.
