In the early ‘90s, Arnold Schwarzenegger deployed some cunning tactics in his quest to outshine Sylvester Stallone as the premier action star of the era.
In an upcoming special titled “TMZ Presents Arnold & Sly: Rivals, Friends, Icons,” the former California governor and iconic “Terminator” actor sits down with the legendary “Rocky” figure to divulge how he lured Stallone into accepting a role in the ill-fated 1992 film, “Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot.”
Schwarzenegger, along with his agent, devised a cunning strategy, anticipating the eventual failure of the movie – a prediction that ultimately materialized.
As the two Hollywood heavyweights reminisced about their past rivalry, Stallone, 77, appeared visibly surprised by Schwarzenegger’s recounting of the scheme.
On camera, Stallone expressed his astonishment, revealing that he was unaware of the intricacies of Schwarzenegger’s plan. “You talked to my director?” he exclaimed, clearly taken aback by the revelation.
Despite their historical competitiveness, the two have since reconciled and developed a close friendship. However, Stallone acknowledges that he’s left grappling with a blemish on his career due to Schwarzenegger’s cunning maneuver.
